Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The goal is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation. Agricultural experts said that for water shortage areas drip irrigation is best, as it save water and hence cost is reduced. Drip irrigation also known as trickle irrigation works by applying water slowly, directly to the soil. With drip irrigation fertilizers can be efficiently used and expenses can be saved. Drip irrigation systems apply water mixed fertilizers to the roots of the plant, which does not waste the fertilizer and fertilizer can be given at any stage as per the requirement of the crop and all plants. Compared to the conventional irrigation systems, drip irrigation is best for obtaining a healthy crop.
