Wheat is often subjected to adverse weather conditions during much of its growth period. Low temperature injury is particularly destructive as wheat has little resistance to low temperature. Agriculture experts have directed farmers to protect wheat crop from frost conditions. They said that appropriate measures must be taken timely, so that the adverse effects of the frost injury could be greatly reduced. To protect the early and late crop of wheat, appropriate quantity of urea must be used.
During the expected nights of frost condition, light irrigation must be applied. Because due to the application of light irrigation the temperature of the field is maintained and it does not fall. This prevents the temperature of the plants from falling below the freezing point. This also create resistance in the plants against frost injury. Moreover, they said that if hoeing is done after moisture condition in the field, then the temperature of the field is not reduced as moisture soil layer comes up.
