Agriculture Experts have instructed farmers to timely cultivate sunflower, in order to get a bumper crop. The schedule for the cultivation of sunflower has been announced. Under the scheme of Sunflower cultivation, Agriculture Department of Punjab has divided Punjab into three parts. Spokesperson of Agriculture Department said that the schedule for spring cultivation in Punjab districts has been issued after consultation with experts, scientists and farmer organizations. According to the schedule, the first part comprising Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanwal, Multan, Vehari and Bahawalnagar will start the cultivation from 1st January till the end of the month.
The second part for sunflower cultivation, comprises Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Lodhran, Rajanpur and Bhakkar. The cultivation in the second part will be started from 10th January till 10th February, while in Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Jhang, Sahiwal, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Attock, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Chakwal, the cultivation will be started from 25th January till the end of February. Moreover, they said that timely cultivation should be done in order to ensure higher production, as delay in cultivation leads to yield losses.
