Agriculture Mechanization and Research Institute (AMRI) and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) have developed a modern machine that kills pink bollworm from the remains of cotton crop in the field. MNSUA spokesman said that a demonstration of the machine was organized at MNSUA farm showed successful results.
Chairman MNSUA engineering and technology department Dr Alamgir Akhtar Khan added that the machine uproots cotton sticks from the field and put them into shredder that converts them into tiny pieces leaving no room for survival of pink bollworm. This ensure pink bollworm crop next year and it will also increase organic material in soil. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ali, Syed Ibn-e-Abbas, progressive farmer Mumtaz Khan, Dr. Abid Ali, Dr, Shafqat Saeed, engineer Ghulam Siddiq, Dr. Ghulam Abdul Ghaffar, and agriculture scientists also attended the conference.
