Agriculture experts have directed farmers to take appropriate measures in order to protect brinjal seedlings from various diseases. Brinjal seedlings are attacked by many diseases, therefore the farmers should take immediate steps in order to prevent the occurrence of diseases. They said that during initial growth stage of brinjal seedlings, mostly stem rotting occurs, which causes severe damage.
The micro-organism (fungi) causing stem rotting, usually live in the upper soil and roots and affects the part of plant above the soil. After the occurrence of the disease, a light brown spot can be seen on the stem. If the problem is not cured early, then the whole seedling dries and damage occurs. The problem can be prevented by providing good air circulation. Hoeing should be done in order to promote proper drainage and circulation. Farmers must prefer resistant and approved varieties for the cultivation.
