Agriculture Experts have advised farmers to take care of brinjal crop, so that higher production can be achieved. Crop should be protected from harmful insect pests and disease at appropriate time. In order to minimize crop losses proper measures should be taken at proper time. There are various insect pests which are causing damage to crop at different stages and responsible for huge yield losses. Brinjal Fruit and Shoot Borer are major and serious insect pests of brinjal. A short pinkish caterpillar bores into the terminal shoot and eats internal tissue; it bores into the young fruit through the calyx while leaving visible signs of infestation. Brinjal fruit borer heavily infest fruit and the infested fruit cannot be consumed. After attack of fruit and stem borer infested and damaged fruits and branches should be removed and these should be buried in soil. Larsban or Talstar should be applied at the rate of 4-5 CC per litre water. For the control of insect pests and diseases appropriate pesticides should be applied.
